Delhi on Wednesday recorded a spike in fresh Covid 19 cases with the positivity rate inching up from 0.5% to 2.7% in a week. The national capital recorded 299 fresh cases with no fatality reported so far.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has scheduled a meeting on coming Monday to discuss the situation and decide the plan of action in curbing the rise of Covid numbers. Doctors on their part have advised citizens against dropping their guard though the case count is low. An official in the Delhi health department stated that the number of patients admitted to the hospital has not increased with the rise in cases. However, they will be mindful of adding to the number of Covid beds if the need arises.

According to the doctors, the sample sent for genome sequencing were not found with any other variant except Omicron. They have reasoned that most of the cases were reported followed by the relaxation of Covid restrictions and reopening of schools and colleges.
